The safety valve installed in the first tank the air compressor pumps air is set to open:

To check that spring brakes come on automatically, the first thing to do is to:

release the parking brake, move the vehicle forward slowly, and apply the brakes firmly.

If the air compressor is belt-driven, you should check the air compressor drive belt before each trip. The belt should be:

tight.

cracked.
|

worn.
|
|

loose.
