1. Your truck has a dual air system. If either system is very low on pressure:
the low pressure warning signal will stop working.
either the front or the rear brake will not be fully operational.
the tractor protection valve will not work properly.
the ABS will not work properly.
2. If your vehicle is equipped with a front brake limiting valve, to ensure normal stopping power make sure the control is:
in the "neutral" position.
in the "normal" position.
in the "off" position.
in the "slippery" position.
3. Why must air tanks be drained?
There might not be enough antifreeze in the system.
Your transmission fluid may drain out.
The alcohol evaporator might stop working.
The water can freeze in cold weather and cause brake failure.
4. The s-cam forces the brake shoes away from one another and presses them against the inside of the brake drum. It is called the s-cam because:
it is shaped like the letter "S".
it is a safe-driving brake.
"S" stands for "Shoes".
it applies a "Shock" to the brakes.
5. An Anti-lock Braking System (ABS):
increases your normal braking capability.
always shortens your stopping distance.
lets you drive faster.
keeps your wheels from locking up when you brake hard.
