The air brakes endorsement applies to applicants who wish to drive a vehicle with air brakes in Class A, B, or C CDL. To drive a vehicle with air brakes, you must pass the air brake component of the North Dakota CDL knowledge test. The ND CDL air brakes test consists of 25 questions, and you'll need at least 20 correct answers to pass (80%). The test covers the information found in the air brakes section of the North Dakota CDL Manual. Take this ND CDL practice test now to prepare for the actual air brakes test!
1. Truck tractors with air brakes built after March 1, 1997, are required to be equipped with:
a rear backup camera.
GPS
anti-lock brakes.
hydraulic brakes.
2. On front tires, tread should be at least:
1/16 inch
2/32 inch
4/32 inch
4/16 inch
3. Foundation brakes are used:
only with the front wheels.
at each wheel.
only with the right wheels.
only with the rear wheels.
4. You supply air to the trailer brake system by:
plugging the electrical cord into the trailer.
pulling out the trailer air supply valve.
pushing in the trailer air supply knob.
connecting the tractor service air line to the trailer service glad hand.
5. If the spring brakes do not release when you push the trailer air supply control, you should:
rev or lug the engine.
pump the brakes.
check the electrical cables.
check the air line connections.
