The air brakes endorsement applies to applicants who wish to drive a vehicle with air brakes in Class A, B, or C CDL. To drive a vehicle with air brakes, you must pass the air brake component of the Pennsylvania CDL knowledge test. The PA CDL air brakes test consists of 25 questions, and you'll need at least 20 correct answers to pass (80%). The test covers the information found in the air brakes section of the Pennsylvania CDL Manual. Take this PA CDL practice test now to prepare for the actual air brakes test!
1. When using a fire extinguisher, you should stay:
as far away from the fire as possible.
at whatever distance you think is safe.
as close to the fire as possible, without getting burnt.
at least 10 feet away from the fire.
2. Before driving a vehicle with a dual air brake system, you should allow time for the air compressor to build up a minimum of ____ pressure in both the primary and secondary systems.
50 psi
150 psi
100 psi
35 psi
3. When coupling, you should:
be aware that wrong coupling and uncoupling can be very dangerous.
make sure the trailer wheels are not chocked.
make sure the sliding fifth-wheel is locked.
make sure the trailer kingpin is bent.
4. Why must air tanks be drained?
The alcohol evaporator might stop working.
The water can freeze in cold weather and cause brake failure.
Your transmission fluid may drain out.
There might not be enough antifreeze in the system.
5. To test the air leakage rate, with a fully-charged air system you should ____________ and time the air pressure drop.
turn off the engine, release the parking brake
check the air compressor's drive belt, chock the wheels
