11. The spring brakes come on:
when air pressure in both air brake systems rises to a value set by the manufacturer.
when you bring the vehicle to a complete stop right away.
when main air pressure is lost.
12. If the air compressor is belt-driven, you should check the air compressor drive belt before each trip. The belt should be:
loose.
cracked.
tight.
13. When the low air pressure warning light and buzzer first come on, you should:
downshift and slow down.
speed up to restore pressure.
bring the vehicle to a safe stop right away.
14. You should check air pressure and temperature gauges:
as often as is practical.
at the beginning of each trip.
at the end of each trip.
15. Before starting down a hill, you should slow down and shift down:
so you can coast downhill.
to a gear that will cause your engine to exceed its redline.
to a speed that you can control without using the brakes hard.
