OKLAHOMA CDL AIR BRAKES PRACTICE TEST

11. How should you apply the brakes when going down a steep downgrade?
Apply the brakes whenever you reach your safe speed, until your speed has been reduced to 5 mph below your safe speed.
Apply the brakes when you reach the bottom of the downgrade.
Apply the brakes as hard as you can without locking the wheels.
12. Supply pressure gauges tell you:
how much air pressure you are applying to the brakes.
how much pressure is in the air tanks.
when the air pressure in the tanks falls below 60 psi.
13. Your truck has a dual air system. If either system is very low on pressure:
either the front or the rear brake will not be fully operational.
the tractor protection valve will not work properly.
the low pressure warning signal will stop working.
14. Before driving a vehicle with a dual brake brake system, the driver should:
wait at least 10 minutes before driving.
allow time for the air compressor to build up a minimum of 100 psi pressure in both the primary and secondary systems.
pump the brake pedal 10 times to build pressure.
15. How can you tell if your vehicle is equipped with ABS (anti-lock braking system)?
There is no way to tell, ABS is still optional on all vehicle types.
ABS is required on all vehicles manufactured on or after 2000.
Trucks, buses, trailers, and converter dollies built after 1998 are required to have ABS.
