What does a double solid yellow line mean?

A solid double yellow line marks the center of a two-way road where traffic moves in opposite directions. This marking, made up of two parallel solid yellow lines, means that passing is prohibited in both directions at all times.
In some cases, additional signs such as “Do Not Pass” or “No Passing Zone” may be placed to emphasize this rule. However, the presence of a double yellow line clearly indicates that passing is not allowed, whether or not there are signs present.
