The air brakes endorsement applies to applicants who wish to drive a vehicle with air brakes in Class A, B, or C CDL. To drive a vehicle with air brakes, you must pass the air brake component of the West Virginia CDL knowledge test. The WV CDL air brakes test consists of 25 questions, and you'll need at least 20 correct answers to pass (80%). 1. Air brakes:

2. What factors can cause brakes to fade or fail?
Not taking your foot off the accelerator.
Overheating, low air pressure or water in the air tanks.
Going too slow.
Not pressing the brake pedal hard enough.
3. When using a fire extinguisher, you should stay:
at least 10 feet away from the fire.
as far away from the fire as possible.
at whatever distance you think is safe.
as close to the fire as possible, without getting burnt.
4. The spring brakes come on:
when you lose ABS control.
when main air pressure is lost.
when air pressure in both air brake systems rises to a value set by the manufacturer.
when you bring the vehicle to a complete stop right away.
5. Too little weight on the driving axles can cause:
mechanical damage.
poor visibility.
longer stopping distances.
