The tanker endorsement applies to drivers who wish to drive a tank in Class A, B, or C CDL. To add this endorsement to your CLP/CDL, you must pass a knowledge test on the problems posed by large volume liquid cargos. The Florida CDL tank vehicles test consists of 20 questions. To pass, you must correctly answer at least 16 questions (80%). The DMV written test includes 50 multiple-choice questions. The questions cover various topics to ensure that applicants have a solid understanding of the rules of the road. Carefully study the manual to enhance your chances of passing the exam.

On the Florida DMV written test, you are allowed to miss up to 10 questions out of the total 50 in order to pass. This means you need a score of at least 80%. Take your time during the exam to make sure you understand the questions well.

For new drivers in Florida, the following restrictions apply:
  • With a learner's license, you must be accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 21. For the first three months you are restricted to daylight hours, then driving is allowed until 10 pm.
  • At 16 with a driver license, you can drive alone except from 11 pm to 6 am, unless for work reasons or if accompanied by a licensed driver aged 21 or older.
  • At 17 with a driver license, you can drive alone except from 1 am to 5 am, unless for work reasons or if accompanied by a licensed driver aged 21 or older.
  • For those under 21, there is zero alcohol tolerance. If stopped with a Blood Alcohol Level (BAL) of .02 or higher, your license will be suspended for six months.
If you do not pass your DMV written test in Florida, you will need to pay the fee again for another attempt. Keep in mind that a service fee is applicable to all driver license transactions at a tax collector office. Focus on the sections of the manual you have overlooked to have a deep understanding of the driving laws.
