The air brakes endorsement applies to applicants who wish to drive a vehicle with air brakes in Class A, B, or C CDL. To drive a vehicle with air brakes, you must pass the air brake component of the Georgia CDL knowledge test. The GA CDL air brakes test consists of 25 questions, and you'll need at least 20 correct answers to pass (80%). The test covers the information found in the air brakes section of the Georgia CDL Manual. Take this GA CDL practice test now to prepare for the actual air brakes test!
1. Emergency brakes must be held on by:
air pressure.
dynamic pressure.
mechanical force.
hydraulic pressure.
2. An Anti-lock Braking System (ABS):
lets you drive faster.
increases your normal braking capability.
always shortens your stopping distance.
keeps your wheels from locking up when you brake hard.
3. The heavier the vehicle:
the more work the brakes must do to stop it.
the higher the center of gravity will be.
the less work the brakes must do to stop it.
None of the above.
4. If your vehicle is equipped with a front brake limiting valve, to ensure normal stopping power make sure the control is:
in the "slippery" position.
in the "normal" position.
in the "neutral" position.
in the "off" position.
5. The application pressure gauge:
protects the tank and the rest of the system from too much pressure.
stops the compressor from pumping air.
shows how much air pressure is being applied to the brakes.
tells you how much pressure is in the air tanks.
6. The air tanks should be drained completely to remove:
water and oil.
carbon monoxide.
air.
the radiator cap.
7. If your tires are hot, you should NOT:
once the tires have cooled down, make another stop to check the tires.
let air out of the tires so the pressure goes back to normal.
stop to let the tires cool down.
drive until you correct the cause of the overheating.
8. In newer vehicles with air brakes, you put on the parking brake:
using a P-shaped, yellow control knob.
placing the transmission in Park.
using a diamond-shaped, yellow, push-pull control knob.
moving the orange push-pull lever to the right.
9. Tar in the road pavement rising to the road surface in very hot weather:
is very sticky and will slow down your vehicle.
might get in your engine.
does not affect the road surface or driving conditions.
causes the road to become very slippery.
10. The air compressor stops pumping air into the air storage tanks when air tank pressure rises to around:
450 psi.
125 psi.
100 psi.
250 psi.
