when you lose ABS control.
when air pressure in both air brake systems rises to a value set by the manufacturer.
when you bring the vehicle to a complete stop right away.
when main air pressure is lost.
2. If you are being tailgated, you should:
move to the left lane.
speed up.
flash your brake lights.
increase your following distance.
3. Vehicles with air brake systems take longer to come to a complete stop than vehicles with hydraulic brakes because of:
tire pressure.
brake lag.
reaction distance.
brake fading.
4. Tractor and straight truck spring brakes will come fully on when the air pressure drops to a range of:
55 to 74 psi.
20 to 45 psi.
5 to 15 psi.
30 to 35 psi.
5. Why must air tanks be drained?
The low boiling point of water reduces braking power.
Water can freeze in cold weather and cause brake failure.
Water and oil reduce the air pressure.
To keep from fouling the air compressor oil.
6. Weight that is loaded so there is a high center of gravity:
reduces the chance that the load will shift to the side or fall off.
makes a vehicle easier to handle.
