Safely pulling double and triple trailers requires knowledge and skill. If you want to pull double or triple trailers, you must add the Doubles/Triples (T) endorsement to your Class A CDL. The Colorado doubles triples test consists of 20 questions. To pass, you must correctly answer at least 16 questions (80%). The CO CDL doubles triples test covers the following sections of the Colorado CDL Manual: Driving Safely, Air Brakes (if you plan to operate vehicles equipped with air brakes), Combination Vehicles, Doubles and Triples. In Colorado, you must be at least 15 years old to apply for a minor instruction permit. Once you reach the age of 16 and have held the permit for 12 months, you become eligible for a minor license. You can make up to 5 mistakes on the DMV written test. To pass, you need to answer at least 20 questions correctly, achieving an 80% accuracy rate. Take your time to read each question accurately.
For new drivers under 18 years old, Colorado imposes specific restrictions:
  • They cannot drive unless accompanied by a licensed adult 21 or older in the front seat.
  • During the first six months, they cannot transport passengers under 21, except for a parent or adult over 21. After this period, one passenger under age 21 is allowed (except for medical emergencies).
  • Drivers and passengers must wear seat belts.

In Colorado, an instruction permit remains valid for three years. Now that you have your instruction permit, it's time to start practicing your driving skills before the road test.
If you fail your online DMV written test in Colorado, you can retake it as many times as necessary, but with a maximum of two attempts in a day. After the first attempt, an additional fee is required. If you choose to take the exam at a third-party location, you may be subject to extra fees imposed by that business.
