The passenger endorsement applies to drivers who want to drive a bus in any Class A, B, or C CDL. Applicants must pass a special knowledge test, and must pass skills tests in a passenger vehicle. The Florida CDL passenger test consists of 20 questions. To pass, you must correctly answer at least 16 questions (80%). On the Florida DMV written test, you are allowed to miss up to 10 questions out of the total 50 in order to pass. This means you need a score of at least 80%. Take your time during the exam to make sure you understand the questions well.
For new drivers in Florida, the following restrictions apply:
- With a learner's license, you must be accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 21. For the first three months you are restricted to daylight hours, then driving is allowed until 10 pm.
- At 16 with a driver license, you can drive alone except from 11 pm to 6 am, unless for work reasons or if accompanied by a licensed driver aged 21 or older.
- At 17 with a driver license, you can drive alone except from 1 am to 5 am, unless for work reasons or if accompanied by a licensed driver aged 21 or older.
- For those under 21, there is zero alcohol tolerance. If stopped with a Blood Alcohol Level (BAL) of .02 or higher, your license will be suspended for six months.
If you do not pass your DMV written test in Florida, you will need to pay the fee again for another attempt. Keep in mind that a service fee is applicable to all driver license transactions at a tax collector office.
