The passenger endorsement applies to drivers who want to drive a bus in any Class A, B, or C CDL. Applicants must pass a special knowledge test, and must pass skills tests in a passenger vehicle. The Kentucky CDL passenger test consists of 20 questions. To pass, you must correctly answer at least 16 questions (80%). The KY passenger test covers the following sections of the Kentucky CDL Manual: Driving Safely, Transporting Passengers, Vehicle Inspection Test, Basic Control Skills Test and Road Test. 1. To avoid distractions while driving, you should:
try to engage in complex conversations with the other occupants.
adjust vehicle controls and mirrors prior to driving.
use your phone only when there is no traffic around you.
smoke, eat, and drink only when the road is straight.
2. The driver's seat of a bus should have:
a brake and accelerator interlock system.
a seat belt.
an emergency exit handle.
a pocket for storage.
3. To warn drivers behind you that you will be slowing down, you should:
tap your brake pedal a few times to flash your brake lights.
turn on the 4-way emergency flashers.
turn on the parking, clearance and side-marker lights.
turn on the right and left turn signals at the same time.
4. To avoid becoming an aggressive driver you should:
speed up if you think you’re going to be late.
make gestures to other drivers.
give other drivers the benefit of the doubt.
give other drivers your full attention.
5. How does ABS help you?
ABS always shortens your stopping distance.
ABS helps you avoid wheel lock up and maintain control when you brake hard on slippery surfaces.
ABS makes stab braking more effective.
ABS replaces your normal brakes and helps you  to stop faster.
6. Properly adjusted outside left and right side flat mirrors should allow the driver to see:
the rear tires touching the ground.
at least 1 traffic lane on either side of the bus.
the front bumper.
the front tires touching the ground.
7. How should you brake if your vehicle loses ABS?
Brake as you always have.
Step on and off the brake pedal several times
Stay off the Brake
Pump the brake repeatedly
8. ABS:
does not decrease your stopping distance.
helps you increase your average speed.

improves your visibility at night.
9. In a dual air brake system, if one air system is very low on pressure:
the effect won't be noticeable for the first 50 miles.
you should pump the brakes to restore pressure.
you should drive and brake as you always have.
either the front or rear brakes will not be operating fully.
10. When driving in extremely hot weather, if the air pressure in the tires is too high, you should:
call your supervisor.
stop and remain stopped until the tires cool off.
let air out of the tires to decrease pressure.
continue driving.
