The passenger endorsement applies to drivers who want to drive a bus in any Class A, B, or C CDL. Applicants must pass a special knowledge test, and must pass skills tests in a passenger vehicle. The Michigan CDL passenger test consists of 20 questions. To pass, you must correctly answer at least 16 questions (80%). The MI passenger test covers the following sections of the Michigan CDL Manual: Driving Safely, Transporting Passengers, Vehicle Inspection Test, Basic Control Skills Test and Road Test. 1. If you are being tailgated, you should:
drive on the shoulder.
speed up.
try to let the other vehicle pass.
2. If your vehicle has power steering, during your pre-trip external inspection you must check that:
the engine rpm is down close to idle.
there are 2 lit red lights indicating it's there.
there are no power steering fluid leaks or damage to the power steering hoses.
3. To avoid a hazard:
driving on the shoulder of the road is always the best thing to do.
stopping is always the best thing to do.
steering away from what is ahead may be the best thing to do.
4. When driving in fog, drivers should:
use the windshield wipers.
use high beams.
use low beams.
5. If a bus has a restroom:
the restroom must have a window.
the restroom emergency buzzer must be in safe working condition.
the restroom must have an emergency exit.
6. When you see you will need to slow down, you can warn drivers behind you by:
turning on the right turn signal.
tapping the brakes a few times.
slamming on the brakes.
7. Even if you are not required to always stop at railroad crossings and you are sure no train is approaching, you must stop before reaching the crossing if:
the tracks are not clear.
there is oncoming traffic.
you can drive completely through the crossing without stopping.
8. When changing lanes, you should:
do it quickly so other vehicles won't get into the lane.
do it slowly, so a driver you did not see may have a chance to honk their horn.
turn sharply.
9. To keep your vehicle from rolling back when you start, you should:
turn the engine off before you take your foot off the brake.
apply the emergency brake whenever necessary.
partly engage the clutch before you take your foot off the brake.
10. When drivers make a turn they should:
look in the direction they are going to turn.
look behind the vehicle.
look in the opposite direction of the turn.
