The passenger endorsement applies to drivers who want to drive a bus in any Class A, B, or C CDL. Applicants must pass a special knowledge test, and must pass skills tests in a passenger vehicle. The Virginia CDL passenger test consists of 20 questions. To pass, you must correctly answer at least 16 questions (80%). The VA passenger test covers the following sections of the Virginia CDL Manual: Driving Safely, Transporting Passengers, Vehicle Inspection Test, Basic Control Skills Test and Road Test. Rollovers happen when drivers:
turn too fast.

brake too hard.
|

turn too slowly.

The brake and accelerator interlock system (if your bus has one):
applies the brakes when the rear door is closed.

You hear a loud "bang" which sounds like a tire blowout. You should:
keep driving as normal.

Never refuel your bus:
in a closed building with riders on board.

with a higher grade of fuel.

A disabled bus with passengers on board:
should always be towed or pushed to the nearest safe spot to discharge passengers.

should not be towed or pushed, unless getting off the bus would be unsafe.

should be towed or pushed to its destination with the passengers on board.

What should you do if you doubt you have safe space to pass under a low bridge?
If no warnings are posted, assume there is enough clearance under the bridge and proceed slowly.

Go slowly, and take another route if you are not sure you can make it.

Increase the weight of your vehicle to clearing under the bridge.
