Anyone who drives a motorcycle in Wisconsin must have a Class M motorcycle license or motorcycle instruction permit. To earn a motorcycle instruction permit in Wisconsin, the applicant must pass the motorcycle knowledge test, a sign test and a vision screening. Check the Wisconsin Motorcycle Handbook.

When approaching
turns or curves, riders should travel:
|
single file.
|
|
|
in a staggered formation.
|
|
|
in pairs.
|
2.
To avoid hazardous situations and reduce their risk, experienced riders:
|
avoid carrying passengers.
|
|
|
scan the road ahead.
|
|
|
swerve often.
|
3.
Before riding, position yourself comfortably and sit far enough forward so that your arms are:
|
bent at a 120-degree angle.
|
|
|
slightly bent when
you hold the handgrips.
|
|
|
straight.
|
4.
Eye protection:
|
is only needed when riding in bad weather.
|
|
|
should give a clear view to either side.
|
|
|
is only needed if your motorcycle is not equipped with a windshield.
|
5.
If the front wheel locks:
|
grab at the front brake.
|
|
|
roll on the throttle.
|
|
|
release the front brake immediately, then reapply it.
