For a restricted learner's permit (or hardship permit), you can apply at 14 if you work or reside more than 5 miles from your school. To get a regular learner’s permit, you need to be at least 15 years old. Once you reach 16, you become eligible for an intermediate license after holding the permit for ten days. For a full class C driver license, you must be at least 17 years old. Alternatively, if you're 16 ½ years old, you can qualify for a full license by completing an approved driver education course and holding an intermediate license for six months.
You can take the DMV written test at the time of your application for the learner's permit without scheduling it. Choose a Wyoming driver license office, check its business hours, and contact the office when you are ready.
Ensure you have the required documents:
- One proof of identity and one proof of name change (if applicable).
- Two proofs of residence. If you're a minor, your parent/guardian may provide them for you.
- Your Social Security Number.
Check the list of acceptable documents for each category.
