CDL PASSENGER TEST HAWAII

The passenger endorsement applies to drivers who want to drive a bus in any Class A, B, or C CDL. Applicants must pass a special knowledge test, and must pass skills tests in a passenger vehicle. The Hawaii CDL passenger test consists of 20 questions. To pass, you must correctly answer at least 16 questions (80%). The HI passenger test covers the following sections of the Hawaii CDL Manual: Driving Safely, Transporting Passengers, Vehicle Inspection Test, Basic Control Skills Test and Road Test. 1. To avoid distractions while driving, you should:
adjust vehicle controls and mirrors prior to driving.
smoke, eat, and drink only when the road is straight.
use your phone only when there is no traffic around you.
2. If a vehicle is equipped with ABS, when you start the engine:
the ABS indicator light on the dash should come on and then turn off.
the spring brakes will come on.
the wheels will lock up.
3. If brakes fail on a long downgrade, you should:
use an escape ramp if it is available.
turn off the engine as soon as you.
pump the brake pedal 3 times.
4. If you hear a loud loud "bang" and the steering feels "heavy", you should:
hold the steering wheel firmly and stay off the brake.
brake hard and pull off the road.
pump the brakes until the vehicle has slowed down.
5. When checking your mirrors you should:
use both mirrors.
only use the driver side mirror.
only use the passenger side mirror.
6. Even if you are not required to always stop at railroad crossings and you are sure no train is approaching, you must stop before reaching the crossing if:
there is oncoming traffic.
the tracks are not clear.
you can drive completely through the crossing without stopping.
7. Using of a hand-held mobile device while driving is:
prohibited.
not encouraged.

8. In an emergency:
you should never turn to miss an obstacle.
you should keep one hand on the steering wheel.

9. While crossing railroad tracks, you should:
shift down.

10. Properly adjusted outside left and right side flat mirrors should allow the driver to see:
at least 1 traffic lane on either side of the bus.
