NEW MEXICO MOTORCYCLE PERMIT TEST

To earn your motorcycle license in New Mexico, you must pass a knowledge test and an on-cycle skills test. Knowledge test questions are based on information from the New Mexico Motorcycle Operator Manual. They require that you know and understand road rules and safe riding practices. The New Mexico motorcycle test consists of 25 questions. To pass you must correctly answer at least 20 questions (80%).
1. To help with your balance as you turn the motorcycle:
drag the rear brake.
slow down before through turn.
shift down through the gears with the clutch.
keep your knees against the gas tank.
2. Rolling on the throttle through a turn:
causes the motorcycle to slip.
is the best way to handle tailgaters.
helps stabilize suspension.
is extremely dangerous and should be avoided.
3. If you must go over an obstacle on the road, the best thing to do is to:
get off their motorcycles quickly.
keep both your feet on the ground and the brakes applied.
approach at a 45 degree angle.
approach at a 90 degree angle.
4. To turn your motorcycle, press on the handgrip in the direction of the turn and:
look straight ahead.
pull in the clutch.
lean in the same direction.
keep your body straight.
5. To stop as quickly and as safely as possible in a curve, try to:
get the motorcycle as perpendicular to the road as possible.
grab the front brake.
lean as much as possible.
increase your speed through the curve.
