Explanation
California state law strictly prohibits the misuse of disabled person parking placards. These placards may only be used by the individual to whom they are issued. Using someone else’s placard - or allowing someone else to use yours - is considered fraud. Abuse of a disabled placard is a misdemeanor offense and carries serious consequences, including the loss of parking privileges, a hefty fine, up to six months in jail, or both. The violation will also appear on the offender’s driver record.
