You must have a valid driver's license or driving permit to operate a motor vehicle on public streets and highways in Michigan. As part of the examination process, you will be given a vision test to determine if your vision meets minimum standards. The Michigan DMV written test is designed to check your knowledge of road signs, road rules, traffic laws and safe driving practices. Everything you need to know is covered in the Michigan Driver's Manual. The DMV knowledge test consists of 50 questions. To pass the MI DMV written test, you must score 76% or higher (at least 38 correct answers).
1. When can you drive using only your parking lights?
Under no circumstances.
30 minutes after sunset or 30 minutes before sunrise.
On foggy days when visibility is low.
When parked on a dark, rural road.

3. When you reach an intersection with stop signs at all corners, you must yield the right-of-way to:

Work hard to steer, reduce speed, drive to a safe area and stop.
Slam on your brakes.

Turn on your hazard warning lights and brace yourself.
7. You may you legally go around or under a railroad crossing gate that is being lowered:
Under no circumstances.
When you can see clearly in both directions.

9. You are entering a roadway from a private road, and you need to turn left. You have to yield to:
Vehicles from the right.
Vehicles from the left.
Vehicles from both directions.
Pedestrians only.
10. If you plan to pass another vehicle, you should:
Get as close as possible to the vehicle in front.
Make sure you are passing at least 2 vehicles simultaneously.
Assume the driver will slow down to let you pass.
Activate your signal before passing.
