It's raining heavily. If you think your tires might have lost contact with the surface of the road, you should:
Slow down by shifting to a lower gear.
Pump the brakes quickly and firmly and slow down.
Slowly ease your foot off the gas pedal.
Turn quickly, or your vehicle may skid.
Explanation
When it is raining or the road is wet, your tires can lose traction with the surface of the road and start to ride up on the water. This is called “hydroplaning”. If this happens, avoid using the brakes if possible, and don't panic. Ease your foot off the accelerator, grip the steering wheel tightly and keep the wheels straight. If you try to turn, especially if you do it quickly, your vehicle may skid. Don't turn or stop until your tires are gripping the road again.
