Explanation
Yellow lane lines separate lanes of traffic moving in opposite directions. As a general rule, broken traffic lines can be crossed and solid lines cannot, except when making a turn. Two solid yellow lines indicate no passing: you may not cross the lines to overtake another vehicle. However, if the yellow line next to your side of the road is broken, it means that you may pass if it is safe to do so.
