To drive in Wyoming, you must have a valid driver’s license, instruction permit, intermediate license or restricted license. To obtain a Wyoming driver’s license, you must pass a vision screening, a written test and a driving test. The Wyoming written test covers the contents of the Wyoming Driver's Manual, and includes questions on road signs and signals, pavement markings, road rules, and safe driving practices. The WY DOT knowledge test consists of 25 questions, and you'll need at least 20 correct answers to pass (80%). Practice with this sample test to get ready for the official Wyoming DOT test.

If traffic prevents you from going fully across a set of railroad tracks, you should:

Wait until the approaching train has come to a stop.

|
Proceed only when at least one-half of your vehicle can cross the tracks safely.
|
|
|
Proceed only when there is room for your vehicle on the other side.
|
2.
If there is no crosswalk and you see a pedestrian crossing your lane, you should:

Make sure the pedestrian can see you before proceeding.
|
|
|
Honk your horn and proceed with caution.
|
|
|
Stop and let the pedestrian finish crossing.
|
3.
When they back up, drivers should NOT:

Depend on rear-view or side mirrors to check behind their vehicle.
|
|
|
Back slowly.
|
|
|
Look directly through the rear window.
|

At a red traffic light with a green arrow, you may proceed in the direction of the arrow:

If you are in the proper lane and the roadway is clear.
|
|
|
After making a complete stop first.
|
|
|
If you wait until the light changes.
|
5.
You are stopped behind other vehicles waiting at a stop sign. When the intersection is clear:
|
You may follow the vehicle ahead without stopping again.
|
|
|
You may proceed with caution through the intersection without stopping if there is no other traffic.
|
|
|
You must stop again at the stop sign.
